Blogging?
Perhaps I should update the news more often. New images uploaded, old images updated, etc etc. Working on several games now, and trying to get a nice portfolio and reel ready so that when I go to GDC, I can wow someone into giving me a job.
Deity, the Crysis-mod
Wow. Finally. It's due tomorrow. In the last month, I've designed and built the island where the game takes place, built and rigged four characters (all originating at least in part from the supplied sample mesh due to time constraints) and made twelve sets of textures for them (diffuse+specular+normal+bump), built two monoliths with two sets of textures each, and made one decorative column with one set of textures. Seven custom models, sixty-eight texture maps, and one level. I don't know how things work in the real world, but I think that's pretty good. :) And now I get to play games till my eyes bleed. WOOOOOO!

Oh, and find work for the summer. Most important. :)
School stuffs
Lordy, lordy. Keeping ultra busy at school. Working on, technically, 4 games right now. Alien Plague, which seems to be on hiatus, Red Carpet Rescue (a big every student thing), Deity (a Crysis mod, my final project for this year), and Tempus Fugit (a secret project). Hopefully my portfolio will be ready soon so I can go out and get a job for the summer. And if any potential employers are seeing this, I'm available!
Game engine!
Well, the mod was short lived: I like the idea, but I would rather have a product, rather than a show piece. So, my team and I have licensed an engine! 3DGameStudio, to be precise. It seems pretty cool, and we did some restructuring as well. Got a good-looking team, and I have alot of confidence in this project. More as it develops!
School and mod stuff
Well, I'm enjoying my time at Flashpoint Academy. Not really enough classes to keep my completely occupied, so I'm working on a mod using the UT3 engine: making the Alien Plague game! BOOM! Learning a whole lot by working in a current industry engine: hard stuff. Got a team composed of people with varying levels of dedication to the project. Only so much I can shout at people though: not getting paid for this, and it is MY baby. Oh well.
game!
Just finished working on my first game! You can play it here: flashpointacademy.com/games/sarah. I did all the art stuff. Yup. It was quite difficult: as you can tell, it's not really my kind of style at all. Hopefully my next game will have monsters and robots and such. :)

It was an incredible experience, though. Really nailed home the reality of 'iterative design' in games: round and round we go. A big shout out to all my teachers that got me involved and offered my buckets of good advice and support.
School
Wow. This school is quite cool, and super busy. With my pc in the shop (damned thing popped and belched smoke after only a month!) I've been spending alot of time at school doing projects. This week: 8:30AM - 9PM Mon, Tue, and Wed, 8:30AM - 7:30 PM Thur and today/Fri (and last week Fri also) and time on Sat as well. Then work on Sun. I'm a bit tired, as you might guess. I've been working on a side project, though, with faculty! We're making a video game and I'm doing most of the artwork: BOOM!

But, back to work now. Got work to do. :)
New stuffs
Well, there's two new images up, one in the Story section and on in Misc. I've been accepted into Flashpoint Academy, a school here in downtown Chicago. After my intense two years studies, I will have an Associates in Video Game Design. BOOM! So, yeah, from September, I will no longer be a picture framer, and will instead be working towards a dream.
Kuchisake Onna!
As far as I'm concerned, she is done. Been working on her for about two weeks: she's an entry into the Beasts! competition over at Fantagraphics. Wish me luck!

Oh, and if you haven't read any of the Flight books, or anything by Kazu Kibuishi, go do it now. Please. Good stuff.
howdy
So, added a new folder for speed paints and added a few lino cuts to the Jack folder. Missed going home for Xmas this year, and now American Airlines is holding my luggage hostage. Ack. They have this silly rule that even if one's flight is canceled, the luggage MUST GO TO THE DESTINATION, even if you do not. And they've canceled the same flight 6 nights in a row.... <sigh>
Ouch
Haven't updated in quite some time. Added a new image (in the Jack section) that is actually several years old. Stayed in the safe care of a friend while I was in Japan.

Been playing way too many games lately, and doing way too little artwork. Trying to do some research for a comic project, though. Ganbaru!
New stuff
Well, sent a script to Dark Horse (wish me luck!), went to the Chicago Comic-Con (rather disappointing), and did a few new paintings for Akky's birthday. I gave her a book I put together of watercolors of her when we got married, and periodically I try to add some new ones. Oh, and a friend and I (check him out on the links page: Eugene Smith!) are planning some comics that will rock. And rock hard.
Updates, yo!
A few new pics are up. Trying to keep busy: between reading the quite informative ImagineFX and reading my new copies of CS1 and Hunter Sheets (new SLA books!), I've got too many ideas. Not enough time. <sigh>
Updated!
Well, now there's a new section of photos from my life in Japan, and a few other new pics in other categories. Next step will be setting up a cafepress shop, I think. Time to get back to making a pizza, though: hope everyone has a great 4th!
Grand opening!
Well, here I am, trying this out. Seems to be a rockin place so far. And if you're reading this, thanks for visiting! If you have any questions, comments, whatever please write!
